Andre Petersen is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s most sought after pianists and educators. Andre is a recipient of numerous classical music and jazz music awards including first prize in the Old Mutual Jazz Encounters Competition, first prize in the SAMRO Overseas Piano Scholarship Competition, the Oppenheimer Overseas Scholarship.
Andre successfully completed his masters dissertation in jazz performance, through the Lemmens Instituut in Belgium in 2011. He approached the Foundation to assist him financially in order to do this. The Vuya Foundation funded his trip and education abroad, and we are extremely proud that he managed to achieve his master’s degree with distinction.
