When Vuya Foundation came to know about Justin, the Stevens family had already managed to raise R10 000 towards his ticket and trip. All that was needed was R3000 towards the trip expense and some much needed cricket equipment.
In a training session alongside the likes of boys from SACS, Bishops and Wynberg Boys, Justin cracked his bat! With one week to go before he was set to leave, Vuya Foundation stepped in and paid the remaining required tour money of R3000 and new equipment for Justin to the value of R4000.
Equipment included was a new cricket bat, a left hand glove, which was Justin's 1st ever! Also included were a thigh pad and a wheelie bag.
Justin and the team left on the 30th of March 2012. The team returned on the 11th of April as runners up; winning all but two of their games and performing outstandingly!
In his report to the Foundation Justin thanked the Vuya Foundation Board, he wrote; "Thank you to the board and trustees of the Vuya Foundation, with more people like you, children like me can realize their full potential and dreams"
On his return Justin was selected to the Western Province under 15B team going to George in December.
