Christmas Party and Graduation

Saturday the 7th of December was a monumental day for some of the children at the Oppie Koppie crèche in Prince Alfred Hamlet, Ceres. On this day, both the Christmas celebration and the graduation ceremony of the children going to Grade-R were celebrated. All in all, 34 bright young minds received their certificates to commemorate this achievement. Each age group had their time in the spot-light to perform a song and dance routine as proud parents watched with hearts full of joy. All 34 children stood as proud as punch in front of the stage in full graduation gown with certificate in hand. The power of this moment was understated yet undeniable.

But little did the children know, a visitor had arrived directly from the North Pole – Santa Claus! Santa arrived to hand out gifts to the children who all flocked around the loving old man with their arms raised. This was only the second time they had ever been visited by Santa! Although some were still skeptical of this strange bearded man, many greeted him with love and adoration. The gifts that Santa handed out were rewarded with giddy smiles and frantic curiosity. But before long Santa was saying his goodbyes and on his way back to the North Pole.

The wonderful afternoon was rounded off with good music by local DJ Harry, crazy dancing by the children and good food provided by the Oppie Koppie kitchen.

To the graduates, we wish you all the best in your coming adventures. To the parents, we know you will encourage your little ones to move from strength to strength and wish you a merry festive season. And to the many hands that were involved in this perfect end to the year at the Oppie Koppie crèche, thank you, thank you, thank you!
